How to react when a friend lose her job?

It’s something I don’t know how to react… It happened a couple of time in the past and it happened to me today, again. The person you are working with has been fired for personality conflict… The person is talking to you and the person is saying she lost her job, crying a little, and saying good bye. What should I do? I care! It’s not that I don’t care… But I don’t know what to do… I don’t know if I should be mad at the person who fired her… It’s hard to be mad because you, you still work there, at the same place so you don’t want to be mad at the boss because you don’t want to lose your job on your side too. And on the other end you are really sorry and mad inside because that person did not deserve that…
